Steak Dinner

Even in the heat, we gotta eat! We all know how to grill. Throw the meat on the BBQ, make sure it is cooked on both sides, put it on the plate, and dig in. What if you want a restaurant style steak? How do you cook it restaurant style at home? Let’s talk about seasoning first before we cook it. Salt is a mineral and it does not burn. So steaks can be seasoned with salt right before the grilling starts. Herbs and spices are not minerals and can burn. So for the best taste they should be added on after the grilling has started to ensure that they do not burn. If you like spicy, use peppers. If you don’t like spicy, skip the peppers. One thing you should definitely add is compound butters. Husbankid’s favorite compound butter is pesto butter. It’s very easy to make. Here’s the recipe for a restaurant style dinner at home.

  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat the grill. When the grill is hot, turn it off and rub some an oiled paper towel to grease the grill, then turn it back on. Please be careful!
  • Sprinkle salt on both sides of the steaks and place it on the grill.
  • After about 3 minutes, turn the steak 90-degree angle and grill for another 2 minutes.
  • Turn the steak over and grill for 3 minutes and turn the steak 90 degrees and grill for another 2 minutes.
  • The actual time depends on the thickness of the steak. The best way to gauge is by using a meat thermometer.
  • Once the steak reaches your preferred temperature, take it off the grill and tent it with foil paper for 10 minutes. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP.
  • While the steaks are resting, mix pesto sauce with butter.
  • After the resting period, cut the meat and add the pesto butter on top. If you like another herb or spice, you can use it instead of pesto sauce.
