Rice

Rice is such a simple thing to make, yet so many people have a hard time making fluffy, not mushy, deliciously cooked rice. So today, let’s talk about the simplest rice to make. This is the same rice that can be turned into so many other dishes. It is often said that Asians can measure the amount of water needed for rice with their finger. Let me assure you that this is absolutely true! Being of Asian descent, making rice is almost a rite of passage.

Ingredients

  • Jasmin Rice 1 cup
  • Water 1 1/2 cups
  • Salt optional

Instructions

  • In a medium size, thick bottom sauce pan (preferably with a glass lid), add the rice and water and bring it to a boil with the glass lid on.
  • Once the water comes to a boil, turn temperature down to low. Cook on low, while watching for the water (hence the glass lid), until almost all of it is gone.
  • When most of the water is cooked down, turn the stove off. DO NOT TAKE THE LID OFF. Do not release the steam that’s built in the pan. The steam will keep cooking the rice until fluffy.
  • Let is stand for 10-15 minutes. Fluff with a fork and ENJOY!
